Amir Khan won't be rushed according to promoter Frank Warren
Bolton boxer Amir Khan will not be rushed into a title fight too soon, according to his promoter Frank Warren.
Amir Khan held on to his 100% professional record on Saturday with a six-round points victory over Laszlo Komjathi from Hungary, but Frank Warren said: "Everybody asks when Amir is going to fight for a title but he has got to learn his trade.
"He is on a leash and wants to be let off but he is nowhere near ready for that yet."
Frank Warren said he did not want to see Amir Khan "screw up" his professional career, and gave examples of other fighters who had allowed things to "fall apart".
"I've been around a long time, I know how to make Amir's career a success," Frank Warren said.
And Amir Khan said: "I learned more in that fight than I have in my last four put together. I needed someone who was going to come forward and not let me bully him and that's what he did.
"I needed to show the improvement I have made and I think I did that. Experience-wise it was just what I needed. Just imagine what I will be like after seven more fights."
