Amir Khan versus Diego Alejandro Madole postponed
Amir Khan will now have to wait two months before his next fight after his bout with Diego Alejandro Madole was postponed.
The 25 March fight went down with the cancellation of Danny Williams'
heavyweight contest, with Amir Khan appearing on the undercard in
Glasgow.
Amir Khan's promoter Frank Warren said he hoped the young boxer's next
fight would be on his King's Hall bill in Belfast on 20 May.
"I spoke to his dad and we decided we'd let him have a break," said Frank Warren.
Instead, Amir Khan will begin to get ready for his next scheduled fight on 20 May.
"It's not really a problem and a young guy at this stage of the game should be in the gym," added Frank Warren.
But Warren is uncertain whether Amir Khan will be facing Argentinean Diego Alejandro Madole in May.
"We were thinking of keeping the same guy but we may well look to
somebody a little bit better although that guy was ranked much higher
than Amir," Frank Warren added.
Amir Khan is naturally frustrated by the postponement, but made a point of saying it would do him no harm.
"It'll be a bit hard to take time off," Amir Khan said.
"I've been training but I'll just take a week off. I was peaking well
for the fight but a bit of a break might do me good. It's not upset
anything.
"Frank will do a good job getting more fights on this year," added Amir Khan as he looked towards the future.
