Amir Khan says he will be world champion within a year
Amir Khan, 19, says he is sure he can become a world champion by this time in 2007.
The British Olympic silver medallist faces light welterweight Jackson
Williams in London on Saturday in his sixth professional fight.
"In 12 months I can hopefully be world champion," Amir Khan said.
"I'll have 15 or 16 fights before I'm a world champion and they'll be
getting harder and harder. I'm going to learn the trade then slowly get
experience."
Amir Khan added: "I'm not going to get pushed in the deep end
in my first five fights. Then they'll be pushing me in the deep end."
The older Jackson Williams, 24, is a sports science teacher at City
College in Norwich and has won 12 of his 15 fights with his latest in
December when he beat Tye Williams on points.
"It's going to be a tough fight - Williams is a tough lad. This is a very big chance for him too.
"It's being televised and he isn't coming in the ring to fall over.
He's a teacher so he'll get some stick if he does," added Amir Khan.
Bolton teenage boxer Amir Khan believes his own power has increased
noticeably after only five professional fights and feels he is
improving all the time.
