American boxer Shane Mosley beats Fernando Vargas in Las Vegas rematch
American boxer Shane Mosley beat Fernando Vargas in impressive fashion in their light middleweight rematch at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Saturday.
Referee Kenny Bayless stopped the fight towards the end of round six after Shane Mosley, 34, had knocked Fernando Vargas, 28, to the floor with a solid left hook.
Fernando Vargas got back up but Shane Mosley continued to batter away, forcing Kenny Bayless to step in with 22 seconds left.
"I saw the opportunity and I threw the perfect left hook again," said Shane Mosley.
"It was a combination that me and my father were working on in training camp. I set it up with the jab, step back and then hit him with the left hook," Shane Mosley added.
Fernando Vargas, a former IBF light middleweight champion, looked slow and tired and was beaten to the punch all through the bout by Shane Mosley.
