US athlete Sanya Richards beats Christine Ohuruogu

sanya American track and field athlete Sanya Richards easily beat world champion sprinter Christine Ohuruogu in the 400m at the Zurich Golden League sporting event.

Sanya Richards, 22, set the fastest time in the world, clocking 49.36 seconds whilst British sprinter Christine Ohuruogu is back in fourth position.

However, Sanya Richards missed out on the 400m in Osaka because she didn't qualify for American team in the event.

Sanya Richards' victory saw the 2005 world silver medallist could now be in for a share of the IAAF $1m Golden League jackpot, and she said she was determined to put on an impressive performance after missing out in Osaka.

Sanya Richards said: "I expected a fast race because I wanted to attack my personal best. Entering the final straight, I didn't know they were so far behind,"

"It was mentally tough for me but I was ready to pull out a great victory. It was my world championships here."
