UK runner Tim Benjamin splits with Colin Jackson
Welsh 400m runner and athlete Tim Benjamin has parted company with his trainer Colin Jackson.
Tim Benjamin, 25, teamed up with fellow Welshman Colin Jackson in September and the team were expected to work together until the 2008 Beijing Olympics, however, a statement on the UK Athletics website explained that Tim Benjamin has decided to terminate the arrangement with immediate effect.
Tim Benjamin is reported to have been grateful to Colin Jackson but to have explained: "I believe this is the right decision for me with Beijing just around the corner."
Tim Benjamin had been ranked fourth in the world in 2005 but his career took a slump last season due to injury, however, he has made a gradual comeback to form this year.
UK Athletics performance director Dave Collins said: "We will now work with Tim to focus on getting him in the best possible shape for the rest of the season and to prepare him for the starting line in Beijing next year with the full and continuing support of UK Athletics."
