UK athlete Paula Radcliffe for London Marathon
UK woman athlete Paula Radcliffe will be taking part in the London Marathon on 13 April as part of her preparations for this summer's Beijing Olympics.
Paula Radcliffe, 34, who won the New York marathon in November last year, had set the world record of two hours 15 minutes 25 seconds over the London course back in 2003.
Paula Radcliffe is reported to have said: "I love running in front of my home crowd. I know that winning a fourth time will give me just the boost I need before the Olympic Games in August."
Paula Radcliffe was away from sport for a while and then gave birth to her daughter Isla last January but she soon returned to her past glory by winning the New York title.
Paula Radcliffe went on to add: "The London field is always competitive, but that's what I need to be at my best in Beijing."
And London Marathon race director David Bedford is happy to have Paula Radcliffe back in the race for the first time since 2005.
