Tim Benjamin runs his fastest 400m ahead of European Championships
Welsh runner Tim Benjamin gave himself another boost ahead of the European Championships when he ran his fastest 400m time of the year at a meeting in Thessalonika, Greece.
Tim Benjamin clocked 45.40 seconds to finish second just 0.11s behind winner American runner Jamal Ashley.
This new success built on Tim Benjamin's 45.61 time in Heusden, Belgium, on Friday and his AAAs trials win in Manchester two weeks ago.
Tim Benjamin will next be running at the London Grand Prix on Friday with the European finals in Gothenburg starting on 7 August.
Last year Tim Benjamin caused a sensation when he beat American Olympic champion Jeremy Wariner over one lap at the same Crystal Palace event.
British middle distance runner Jo Pavey is also going to run at Crystal Palace after organisers added a 3000m race, which will suit her preparations for Gothenburg.
