Swede Kajsa Bergqvist to compete in Norwich Union International

kajsa bergqvist UK Athletics has announced that world high-jump champion Kajsa Bergqvist from Sweden will take part in the Norwich Union International in Glasgow on 27 January.

Kajsa Bergqvist, 30, who claimed bronze at the European Championships, hopes to break her own Kelvin Hall stadium-best height of two metres one centimetre.

"I can't wait to get my 2007 season under way with another outing in Glasgow," said Kajsa Bergqvist.

"I've something to prove after failing to win a gold medal in Gothenburg," Kajsa Bergqvist added.

Kajsa Bergqvist is the favourite for gold at the European Indoor Championships in Birmingham in March.

Kajsa Bergqvist added: "It is important to start the season with a bang at the Kelvin Hall.

"I set a stadium record last year and see no reason why I can't better it this time round."

Great Britain, Germany, America and a Commonwealth select team will also be taking part in the event.
