Sprinter Marlon Devonish may lose best title
Sprint athlete Marlon Devonish could see his 100m personal best at the Oslo Golden League deleted from official records due to an administrative error.
A very disappointed Marlon Devonish, 31, said: "I didn't know what the rules were - you would think they would sort that out beforehand."
Marlon Devonish had run 10.20 secs in the B final then replaced Michael Frater, who was injured, and ran 10.08 in the A final, however, because the times of the two races are combined, an IAAF rule states that the same person cannot run the same event twice.
Marlon Devonish had finished an outstanding third in his second final at the event, behind world record-holder Asafa Powell and European champion Francis Obikwelu, but he only found out an hour afterwards that he had been disqualified.
Marlon Devonish is hoping that the decision can be overturned and he said: "Obviously I ran very well - a PB, which I've very pleased with - but I'm a bit gutted with the way it turned out."
