Sprinter Jason Gardener retires from outdoor sport
Sprinter Jason Gardener will take part in his last 100m at Crystal Palace on Friday, after announcing he is retiring from outdoor athletics at the end of the summer.
Jason Gardener, 31, had planned to run at next year's Olympics but has changed his mind due to an injury-hit season.
Jason Gardener explained: "My goals were to run fast and build for the summer. I've not achieved those goals and that's why I'm going."
Jason Gardener, who has been nicknamed the "Bath Bullet," came fourth in the national trials for this month's World Championships in Osaka and he was one of the British quartet who claimed bronze medals at the 2005 World Championships.
For the future, it is reported that Jason Gardener will be assuming a marketing position with Bath Rugby Club at the end of the outdoor season, but he hasn't decided on his indoor sporting career as yet.
