No Paula Radcliffe in UK marathon team for Osaka event
Paula Radcliffe will not be included as part of Great Britain's marathon team for the World Athletics Championships in Osaka from 25 August to 2 September, it has been reported.
Paula Radcliffe, 33, will not be available because she is currently training in America.
Paula Radcliffe hadn't been able to make up her mind as to whether to compete in the marathon in Japan as the defending champion, or to go back to the 10,000m, but a UK Athletics spokesman said officials are in an "ongoing dialogue" with her.
To replace Paula Radcliffe, the British team is now to be led by Jon Brown and Tokyo-based Mara Yamauchi.
Peter Riley and Dan Robinson join Jon Brown in the men's team, although Peter Riley has to first be checked medically to see that he is fit enough before his selection is confirmed for the team.
