Lord Coe says UK Athletics new boss could come from outside sport
London 2012 chairman Lord Coe says David Moorcroft's replacement as UK Athletics chief executive could come from outside the world of sport.
Famous former athletes Daley Thompson, Steve Cram and Jon Ridgeon have all been put forward as suitable for the post but Lord Coe says candidates do not have to come from sport.
"It isn't essential to have sporting experience at the top of that CV," Lord Coe said.
"But you do need to be a first-rate administrator," Lord Coe added.
"It does need to be somebody that can actually build a team, change some of the cultures in that team and make sure that those people with talent - whether they're in the team or have to be brought into the team - are secured."
Lord Coe, a UK Athletics board member, said that the job could even be split between two people.
"We're going to meet on 4 September in an emergency council meeting to start the ball rolling on this whole issue," Lord Coe said.
