Long jumper Chris Tomlinson breaks own record
Athlete Chris Tomlinson, who specialises in the long jump, has broken his own British record at an event in Bad Langensalza, Germany.
Essex Beagles athlete Chris Tomlinson, 25, set a mark of 8.29m with his fourth-round effort, and in so doing beat his previous best of 8.27m, which was made in Florida five years ago.
Chris Tomlinson is naturally feeling confident and feels he is capable of a lot more success. Chris Tomlinson said: "I followed up the record with a marginal foul of 8.50m. I only just twitched the plasticine.
"I know I am ready to make the real step up once I get my run-up sorted."
And Chris Tomlinson's coach, Peter Stanley, is also very optimistic about Chris Tomlinson's future. "I'm certain Chris has more to come," Peter Stanley said.
Chris Tomlinson first broke the record in 2002, when he defeated Lynn "the leap" Davies's record of 8.23m that had stood for 34 years.
