Jo Fenn out of Commonwealth Games due to injury
English
athlete and former world indoors bronze medallist Jo Fenn, 31, has
pulled out of the Commonwealth Games after she suffered a calf injury
whilst training.
Jo Fenn said she was disappointed but hoping to soon be back in action.
"I am very disappointed not to be representing my country which is
always an honour," said Jo Fenn, who was going to run in the women's
800m.
"Team England have been so supportive, I wish I could have made them proud - but I will bounce back."
Jo Fenn finished seventh in the Commonwealth Games final in Manchester
four years back, breaking two minutes for the first time, and then two
years later she came third at the World Indoor Championships in
Budapest.
However, since then she has been plagued by injuries and failed to
reach the Olympic final in Athens, as well as missing all of the 2005
season whilst she recovered from knee surgery.
In spite of these setbacks, Jo Fenn is confident about making a return to the sport.
"The summer is coming and I will bounce back and look forward to getting competitive again," Jo Fenn said.
