Jamaican sprinter Asafa Powell injures chest
Jamaican sprinter Asafa Powell is going to have to wait to begin his season because he has injured himself whilst weightlifting.
25-year-old Powell pulled a chest muscle, however, it shouldn't prevent him training for and competing in the Beijing Olympic Games in August, and his agent Paul Doyle explained: "We don't expect there is anything to be concerned about beyond the end of June."
World 100m record holder Asafa Powell will not be able to take part in Doha, Oslo and Eugene and he recently pulled out from relay races in California and Philadelphia.
His agent added: "He is disappointed. He loves to compete but he understands the bigger picture is getting ready for the Olympic Games. If he was to rush back and get ready for these meets (in May and June) then further on in the summer he may suffer."
