Greek sprinter Katerina Thanou's case to be decided on
Greek sprinter Katerina Thanou's case is being decided on by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on Thursday when they will make a ruling over whether she can take part in Beijing or not.
33-year-old Thanou has been named in her country's squad for the women's 100m, however, the IOC says it can block her from being a contestant.
Thanou and fellow Greek Kostas Kenteris failed to show up for a drugs test for the third time before the Athens Games, and this resulted in a two-year suspension.
Katerina Thanou's lawyer, Gregory Ioannidis, says that his client's ban is now over so she should have the right to take part in the Olympic Games.
Ioannidis has threatened to take legal action against the IOC and its chief Jacques Rogge if Thanou is prevented from being a contestant at the Olympics.
Rogge claims that the IOC does have the right to stop Thanou from competing at Beijing.
