Great Britain's Greg Rutherford wins long jump silver medal
Greg Rutherford won Great Britain's first European Championship medal in Gothenburg when he claimed the long jump silver with an incredible leap of 8.13 metres.
Greg Rutherford, 19, from Milton Keynes battled earlier on in the wind and rain before making his final jump to take him from third to second place.
Italian Andrew Howe jumped 8.20m claimed the first place title, while Ukrainian Oleksiy Lukashevych finished in third position with 8.12m, however, British duo Chris Tomlinson and Nathan Morgan failed to make the final cut.
"That was absolutely amazing - going into last round, I was relaxed and I just went for it," said Greg Rutherford, who is last year's European junior champion.
"I know I can jump 8.00m every day, and on my day 8.20m and 8.30m.
"I was worried that I wouldn't get going with the rain and the wind but then I got into it. It's a dream come true.
"Now I have to go on to the next level and keep medalling," Greg Rutherford added.
