Former Olympic champion American athlete Marion Jones B sample tested this week
Former triple Olympic champion American athlete Marion Jones will be having her 'B' sample tested this week, her lawyer Howard Jacobs has revealed.
Marion Jones' initial sample tested positive for the banned blood-boosting drug erythropoietin (EPO) back in June.
If the second sample is also positive, Marion Jones, 30, faces a two-year ban from the sport, although she is able to make an appeal to an arbitration hearing.
"It is going to be done the second half of this week," said Howard Jacobs on Monday and he said the second test would be conducted at the UCLA Olympic Analytical Laboratory in Los Angeles.
Marion Jones has repeatedly denied taking performance-enhancing drugs and had never previously failed a dope test, however, she had been under investigation by the US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) in connection with the Balco laboratory doping scandal but has never been charged.
Howard Jacobs has represented a number of American athletes besides Marion Jones in anti-doping cases, including Tim Montgomery, her former partner.
