Felix Limo faces the world's best at London Marathon
Defending champion Felix Limo will be up against some of the world's best athletes for the London Marathon and will have as opponents world record holder Paul Tergat of Kenya, Italy's Olympic champion Stefano Baldini, Haile Gebrselassie and Jaouad Gharib.
Ethiopian Haile Gebrselassie ran last year's fastest marathon and Moroccan Jaouad Gharib is the double world champion.
Former European Cross Country champion Jon Brown, who claimed sixth place in 2005, is representing Britain.
"We are delighted to have such a strong field for the men's elite race again this year," said race director David Bedford, and he added:
"The presence of the world record holder, the world and Olympic champions, our reigning champion and the in-form Haile Gebrselassie will, I am sure, mean we have another hugely exciting race."
Felix Limo, who outran fellow Kenyan Martin Lel to a victory last year, is hoping to become the first athlete since Mexico's Dionicio Ceron in 1996 to make a success of defending the title.
