English sprinters Laura Turner and Emma Ania reach finals of women's 100m
English sprinters Laura Turner and Emma Ania have qualified for the finals of the women's 100m in the Commonwealth Games.
Laura Turner got through automatically, after coming second in her heat
in a time of 11.38 seconds and Emma Ania finished in third place in
11.45 secs.
Elsewhere at the Games the defending champion veteran Lorraine Shaw
threw 66 metres to claim bronze for England in the hammer competition.
Lorraine Shaw was delighted to get on the podium for her last
Commonwealth Games.
Lorraine Shaw's teammate Zoe Derham threw 61.92m to finish fifth, one place ahead of Carys Parry from Wales in sixth.
And Christine Ohuruogu qualified in style for the 400m final
and won her semi-final in a time of 50.87 secs but England's Kimberly
Wall and Wales' Catherine Murphy didn't qualify.
Beverley Jones claimed a bronze for Wales in the women's T37 multi-disability 100m with the season's best time of 14.81 secs.
South African Geraldine Pillay clocked 11.32 secs to become the fastest for women's 100m.
