Disgraced US former sprinter Marion Jones jailed
Disgraced former Olympic champion sprinter Marion Jones has handed herself in to a Texas prison to start her six-month sentence it has been reported.
Marion Jones turned up at the Federal Medical Center-Carswell in Fort Worth just before noon.
American former athlete Marion Jones, 32, had admitted she was guilty of lying about steroid use that she had been involved in a drugs fraud case last October.
Marion Jones lost five Olympic medals she had won and has retired from sport.
Marion Jones is also serving two years' probation for lying to detectives about her use of steroids and about a cheque fraud case to do with her former boyfriend, sprinter Tim Montgomery.
Marion Jones, before her fall from grace, was widely considered the most famous female athlete in the world, having won gold in the 100m, 200m and 4x400m relay as well as bronzes at the Sydney Olympics in 2000.
