British runner Jo Pavey's hopes could be spoiled by weather
British runner Jo Pavey's chances of making the World Championship 10,000m qualifying time could face a serious problem this weekend.
Jo Pavey, 33, may be forced to pull out from the BMC Nike Grand Prix in Watford because of bad weather that is forecast, and she said: "I'm worried about the forecast and there's a possibility I'll decide not to do it."
Jo Pavey clocked 32 minutes 21.19 seconds in her first bid at successfully running the distance and now needs to take more than 41 seconds off that time to make the grade.
Jo Pavey added: "I can't risk running 25 laps for the sake of it. It would destroy my calf muscles,"
"It would be a shame, because we've got a good pacemaker and everything is set-up."
But Jo Pavey is still hopeful and said: "I'm definitely up for it and if the gales and storms are horrendous, I shall warm up in the hope that it calms down at the last minute."
