British gymnast Beth Tweddle for Olympics despite injury
British gymnast Beth Tweddle maintains that she will be competing in bar and floor events at the Olympic Games, although she has been suffering from an injured rib.
23-year-old Tweddle had earlier had to pull out of the beam and vault events, but is now going to take part in the asymmetric bars and the floor disciplines at the Games.
Tweddle had some physiotherapy and then went on to join theTeam GB in Beijing on Monday.
Tweddle will begin her time at the Beijing Games, along with the other contestants from the GB women's team, at 0300 BST on Sunday, 10 August.
Tweddle has so far had a disappointing year hampered by ankle problems - just last month she hurt one of her ankles and so was not able to defend her all-around title at the National Championships.
However, Beth Tweddle is feeling confident despite her past problems and she explained: "The bars and the floor are my two strongest events, so I'm going to concentrate on them."
