Athlete Tim Don cleared by British Olympic Association for Olympics
Athlete Tim Don has been cleared by the British Olympic Association (BOA) as eligible for future Olympic Games following his appeal against a ban for having missed doping tests.
In September of last year, Tim Don had been banned for three months because he had missed three tests in 18 months. Although that suspension expired on 25 December, under a BOA byelaw Tim Don was still ineligible for Olympic selection.
The BOA Appeals Panel that looked into his case said there were "significant mitigating circumstances" and overturned that Olympic ban against Tim Don who said he was "delighted" with this decision.
"I am relieved and happy to be reinstated and I can now concentrate 100% on gaining Team GB selection and performing well in Beijing," Tim Don said.
UK Sport chief executive John Steele accepted the BOA's ruling on Tim Don's case and said UK Sport appreciated the importance the BOA attached to its out-of-competition testing programme.
