Athlete Kelly Sotherton to face Carolina Kluft
British athlete Kelly Sotherton will face Carolina Kluft in a special three-event competition at the Norwich Union Indoor Grand Prix on 16 February.
Kelly Sotherton, 31, will compete against Olympic heptathlon champion, Carolina Kluft, in the 60m hurdles, long jump and 400m at Birmingham's National Indoor Arena (NIA).
The World Indoor Championships are beginning in Valencia in Spain three weeks after this and Kelly Sotherton is reported to have said: "With the World Indoors so soon it'll be really important to know I'm performing at my best. I enjoy competing against Carolina as her performances always spur me on.
Carolina Kluft, who also holds the current World and European heptathlon titles, defeated Kelly Sotherton for the pentathlon crown at the European Indoor Championships at the NIA last March.
"The three-event challenge against Carolina should be pretty exciting. This is such an important year for all the athletes as we build up to the Olympics in the summer," Kelly Sotherton added.
