American sprinter Tyson Gay won't face Asafa Powell
American sprinter Tyson Gay has withdrawn from a meeting with world record holder Asafa Powell
over 100m at the Golden League meeting in Brussels on Friday.
World champion Tyson Gay, who has won gold medals at the 100 meters, 200 meters and 4 x 100 meters events at the 2007 World Championships in Athletics in Osaka said he was too tired and a statement by the race organisers read: "The American is feeling too tired after the world championships to face Asafa Powell on Friday."
Tyson Gay had been widely considered to be the main challenger for Asafa Powell in the 100 meters event in 2007.
Asafa Powell has just put on a very impressive display and was third in the 100m as well as setting a new world record of 9.74 seconds at the Rieti Grand Prix in Italy on Sunday.
