American runner Xavier Carter makes only European appearance
American athlete Xavier Carter, who is the second fastest 200m runner in history, will be making his only European appearance of the season indoors in Birmingham on 17 February.
Xavier Carter, 21, will take part in the 400m at the Norwich Union Grand Prix at the National Indoor Arena.
"I really enjoyed my first run in the UK at Crystal Palace this year so I was keen to come back," said Xavier Carter.
Xavier Carter first became really noticed when he equalled Jesse Owens' achievement of winning four titles at the US college championships.
Xavier Carter will participate in the 400m in Birmingham because his preferred event is no longer part of the international indoor circuit due to the fact that the tightness of bends rules out fair competition.
"This will be my only run in Europe this indoor season, so I want to make the most of it," Xavier Carter added.
