All about Lindsay "The Dav" Davenport
Tennis star Lindsay Ann Davenport was born in Palos Verdes, California and she is a former world number one American professional female tennis champion, affectionately nicknamed and known to her fans as "The Dav."
Lindsay Davenport has won three Grand Slam singles tournaments - the 1998 U.S. Open, 1999 Wimbledon, and the 2000 Australian Open - in her impressive career and she also won an Olympic gold medal in singles in 1996.
It is said that Lindsay Davenport has earned over US $21 million in prize money.
Lindsay Davenport was ranked as the number one women singles and doubles player several times between 1998 and 2001 and she went back to the number one spot in singles during the latter part of the 2004. Lindsay Davenport was the number one player at the end of the year in 1998, 2001, 2004, and 2005.
Lindsay Davenport is just over 6 ft 2 in (1.89 m) high, and is the tallest woman ever to win a Grand Slam singles title.
In 2003, Lindsay Davenport married investment banker and former All-American tennis player Jon Leach.
After Lindsay Davenport became pregnant she took a break from competitive tennis, and then on June 10, 2007, she gave birth to a baby boy, Jagger Jonathan in Newport Beach, California.
On July 18, 2007, Lindsay Davenport announced that she would make a comeback to the WTA Tour and she entered the doubles competition of the New Haven tournament, along with partner Lisa Raymond, but unfortunately her return didn't last long because she and Lisa Raymond were both defeated by top seeds Cara Black and Liezel Huber.
Lindsay Davenport is hoping to take part in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China.
