England hockey veteran Tina Cullen out of squad
Veteran England hockey forward Tina Cullen has been omitted from the
squad for the tour to Argentina in the New Year. The 35-year-old
Hightown player-coach, the National League's record scorer, came out of
international retirement in May after a 14-month absence from the
sport.
However, coach Danny Kerry says those not selected could still make the
squad for the Commonwealth Games and the World Cup qualifying
tournament.
"Selection of this group has been tough for many reasons," Danny Kerry said.
"It has been a particularly difficult decision not to include Tina, Sally Walton, Alex Scott, Rachel Walsh and Beth Storry.
"They have all contributed fully to the programme in their own ways and
remain part of the selection formula looking toward the Commonwealths
and the qualifiers."
England will be playing against Argentina, Holland and Australia in the four-nation tournament at the end of January.
