San Antonio Spurs beat Cleveland Cavaliers in NBA finals
San Antonio Spurs basketball team overcame any danger of LeBron James from their opponents' team when they defeated Cleveland Cavaliers 85-76 in the NBA finals opener.
LeBron James averaged 26 points per game in the play-offs, however, he scored only 14 on four-of-16 when shooting from the floor, and whenever LeBron James got the ball, Bruce Bowen was there straight away with backup help from one of his team-mates.
San Antonio Spurs' Tony Parker led his side with 27 points and seven assists.
San Antonio Spurs beat Cleveland Cavaliers' score 24-14 in the third period and in so doing increased a five-point halftime lead to 64-49 going into the final frame.
Cleveland Cavaliers were the NBA's best rebounding team this season but San Antonio Spurs won the battle 43-32, led by Tim Duncan with 13.
San Antonio Spurs are going after their fourth title since 1999 and the Cleveland Cavaliers are appearing in the NBA finals for the first time in all of the franchise's 37 years.
