Miami Heat's Shaquille O'Neal recovers well
Miami Heat's Shaquille O'Neal is recovering very well from an operation on his knee and could be fit enough to face his old team the LA Lakers on 15 January.
Miami Heat coach Pat Riley explained: "He's really worked hard and now the test is when he starts to pound up and down the court."
Miami Heat have lost 15 of 26 games this season without Shaquille O'Neal, 34, who injured his knee on 2 November in a collision with New Jersey forward Bostjan Nachbar, and then went on to re-injured it on 12 November and had cartilage surgery a week after.
Shaquille O'Neal, who helped the Miami Heat win their first NBA title last season, said he was keen to play again, but would not rush it.
"I'm feeling real good now, but I haven't jumped or run yet," said Shaquille O'Neal.
"I want to get my conditioning back as quick as possible. I probably need another couple of practices. It's no use for me to come back less than 100%," Shaquille O'Neal added.
