LA Lakers star Kobe Bryant named NBA Most Valuable
Los Angeles Lakers basketball star Kobe Bryant has at last been honoured as the NBA's Most Valuable Player (MVP).
29-year-old Bryant was given the MVP award this week for the first time in his long and impressive 12-year career in which he has won three NBA titles with the LA Lakers.
A proud and happy Kobe Bryant said: "This is a beautiful day, a special day for me. I'm just deeply, deeply honoured. This is a team award, not an individual award. This gets done because we all do it as a unit and I can't thank these guys enough."
And Los Angeles Lakers coach Phil Jackson added: "I don't know anybody who deserves it more. I've never known anybody who has worked as hard to accomplish what he's accomplished in this game."
Kobe Bryant also said he hoped the MVP award would lead to a grand finale for the LA Lakers, who are next to play against Utah in the Western Conference semi-finals.
