Kobe Bryant's Los Angeles Laker's victory driven by frustration
It was frustration that drove Kobe Bryant to a career-high 62 points in
the Lakers' 112-90 victory Tuesday over the Dallas Mavericks.
"I was so frustrated from the last loss I just tried to will
us to victory," Kobe Bryant said, referring to Sunday's loss to the
Rockets.
Kobe Bryant made an attempt to hide his frustration, but a clenched jaw
and narrowed eyes gave him away. Two nights later, his attitude was
much different.
"It wasn't an ‘on' feeling," he explained. "I have had (that) before, where you feel like you can hit anything you throw up.
"Tonight was a different feeling. It was just a feeling of
wilfulness. Even if they were going to send two guys at me, I was going
to attack them."
"I've seen a few 60-point ballgames in my time, but none of
them had been done by the third quarter," Lakers coach Phil Jackson
said.
Kobe Bryant scored 15 in the first, 17 in the second and a
franchise-record 30 in the third before taking a seat for good with the
Los Angeles Lakers leading 95-61.
"It was like he was in the gym by himself, working on all of
his moves," Dallas Mavericks coach Avery Johnson said. "He got to the
line, he made threes, he made in-between shots, he just got on one of
those incredible rolls."
