Chicago Bulls basketball team stunned Miami Heat
Chicago Bulls basketball team amazed the defending NBA champions Miami Heat on the opening night of the season, when they soundly defeated Miami Heat with a 108-66 score.
Miami Heat players were given their championship rings in a ceremony before the game, but were then played off the court by the energetic Chicago Bulls.
Kirk Hinrich, who signed a five-year contract extension just hours before they started, made the top score with 26 points and it was the biggest ever opening-night loss for any defending NBA champions.
The previous biggest defeat was the Los Angeles Lakers' 132-117 season-opening loss to Golden State in 1982, however, the Lakers went on to win 58 games that season, under the guidance of current Miami Heat coach Pat Riley.
"Welcome back to reality," said Pat Riley and added: "Obviously it was absolutely one-sided. There isn't really much to say - there has been a gauge put on how much work we have to do."
