Chicago Bulls' NBA star Luol Deng called up for GB team

dengl Chicago Bulls 22-year-old star Luol Deng is one of three NBA players whom Great Britain coach Chris Finch for has enlisted for the 24-man squad for the summer programme.

Pops Mensah-Bonsu, 23, and Kelenna Azubuike, 23, are the other NBA-based players that Chris Finch called up for the team, which will assemble in Florida in July to make preparations for four important European qualifiers in August and September.

Chris Finch has also recalled 11 of last summer's team to create a basketball squad that is quite possibly the best ever put together in the UK.

London-born Kelenna Azubuike told Chris Finch just last weekend that he would love to be considered for the team, and although he has still to get a British passport, he has been selected as a wild card on the assumption that he will have one in time to take part.

Luol Deng gave a star performance on Monday as the Chicago Bulls defeated the reigning NBA champions Miami Heat 4-0 in the Eastern Conference first-round series.
