Rhondda Rebels basketball victory at FIBA Europe Cup

Rhondda Rebels, who take their name from the Welsh valleys town, have finished their FIBA Europe Cup campaign with their first ever away victory in the competition, when they beat leading Italian team HS Penta Faenza.

The British champions were already out of the qualification running in a tough group but showed great spirit to win and American guard Laurie Koehn was the game's top scorer with 33 points, hitting six from nine three-pointers.

basketball Fellow guard Tynesha Lewis supported well with 19 points, with captain Missy Lender chipping in with 13 points.

The Rhondda Rebels have two home wins in Europe, beating Reims in the 2002-2003 season and another French side, Villeneuve D'Ascq, the following year, but this away success is an important breakthrough.
