San Francisco Giants star Barry Bonds booed in Houston
San Francisco Giants star Barry Bonds failed to hit a home run for the eighth straight game, which left him stuck one place behind second-placed Babe Ruth in the all-time list.
Barry Bonds was booed throughout the game by the Houston crowd of 35,286 and the allegeations that he used steroids continue to haunt him.
Barry Bonds was the target of Houston Astros pitcher Russ Springer, who threw four pitches at him before striking him with the fifth.
Barry Bonds only needs one more homer to match Babe Ruth at 714, behind Hank Aaron's record 755.
Umpire Joe West threw both Russ Springer and Houston manager Phil Garner out of the game after Barry Bonds was struck but the crowd cheered them as they went away.
Barry Bonds was not badly hurt but is likely to get a day off on Wednesday when the teams finish their three-game series.
A new book, entitled Game of Shadows, claims that Barry Bonds used performance-enhancing steroids for at least five years and his personal trainer Greg Anderson was jailed for his part in the Balco scandal. However Barry Bonds has vehemently denied ever knowingly using steroids.
