Oakland Athletics baseball team beat Minnesota Twins
Oakland Athletics baseball team defeated the Minnesota Twins 8-3 on Friday to gain their play-off series 3-0 and get through to the American League Championship Series.
Milton Bradley and Eric Chavez scored home runs as Oakland Athletics and Venezuelan short-stop Marco Scutaro added a crucial three-run double.
The Oakland Athletics win ended an embarrassing run of failure in which they had not won a play-off series since 1990.
Marco Scutaro's first double came in the second inning when he drove home Jay Payton with Oakland Athletics' second run, and when he took to batting with the bases loaded in the seventh, the fans all chanted his name.
Marco Scutaro replied with a double down the right-field line, driving in Jay Payton, Eric Chavez and Nick Swisher.
"When I heard everyone screaming my name, I just said to myself, 'Do not strike out, please,' " Marco Scutaro said, and Milton Bradley added: "Marco Scutaro is unbelievable. Nobody expects that guy to do what he does. He came through and really made a difference."
