New York Yankees boss Joe Torre's future's in doubt
The future of New York Yankees baseball manager Joe Torre is in doubt after his team were beaten and knocked out of the play-offs at the first hurdle by Cleveland Indians.
Joe Torre, 67, who was born in Brooklyn, New York, besides having been the manager of the New York Yankees is a former Major League Baseball player in the National League for the Atlanta Braves, St. Louis Cardinals and the New York Mets, but now he faces big problems.
Club owner George Steinbrenner had demanded his team win or else earlier in the series, and the Cleveland Indians went on to win 3-1 leaving Joe Torre's team as the losers.
And George Steinbrenner recently was reported in the press to have said: "Torre's the highest-paid manager in baseball, (and) I don't think we'd take him back if we don't win this series."
Joe Torre's teams have won four World Series in the past but none since 2000 and this is their third straight first-round knock out.
Joe Torre said: "Whatever happens from here on, I'll look back on these 12 years with great, great pleasure."
