Johnny Damon gets bad reception from Boston
Boston destroyed Johnny Damon's return to Fenway Park with the Yankees when they beat their old enemies 7-3 on Monday.
Now former Boston hero Johnny Damon, who had joined the Yankees from the Sox as a free agent in the off-season was booed and had dollar bills thrown at him by fans who would not forgive him easily.
Johnny Damon, who had a poor game in any case, doffed his batting helmet to the crowd.
"I heard more cheers than jeers so I was going to do it regardless," Johnny Damon said. "But they don't boo bad players."
Yankee manager Joe Torre was dismayed with the reaction of the fans.
"Evidently, wearing a Yankee uniform overrides winning a World Series and busting your tail for four years," Joe Torre said.
"Without Johnny, Boston may have been working on 89 or 90 years (without winning a World Series)," Joe Torre added.
