Drug use common in American baseball claim
Many American baseball players have been potentially involved in using banned substances, a report on Major League Baseball has concluded.
The investigation concludes that drug use is common in the popular sport of baseball.
Former Senator George Mitchell, who was in charge of the probe into the matter, said several All-Stars were thought to be using steroids and human growth hormones.
George Mitchell has urged that the MLB should outsource drug-testing and create an investigative division specifically to look into drug use allegations.
MLB head Bud Selig has agreed to all the recommendations made by George Mitchell and the report.
Among those baseball players named in the report is Barry Bonds, who pleaded not guilty just last week of lying to a jury about steroid use.
The prosecution claim that Barry Bonds lied under oath when he said in 2003 that he had never knowingly used prohibited substances.
