Detroit Tigers baseball team are one win away from World Series
Detroit Tigers baseball team are just one win away from the World Series after defeating Oakland 3-0 to lead the American League Championship Series by the same margin.
Kenny Rogers allowed just two hits in seven innings as the Detroit Tigers closed in on their first World Series since 1984.
Fernando Rodney replaced Kenny Rogers in the eighth and retired pinch hitter Bobby Kielty on an inning-ending double play and Todd Jones then retired all three batters he faced in the ninth for his second save of the ALC series.
The future isn't looking good for Oakland because Boston, in 2004, are the only team in MLB history to come back to win a best-of-seven play-off series from 3-0 down.
The Detroit Tigers stumbled into the play-offs as a wild card after a late collapse in form but have now won six straight post-season games.
Game four is being held on Saturday in Detroit, where winter weather conditions have already set in
