Boston Red Sox beat Colorado Rockies to win World Series
Boston Red Sox baseball team have beaten the Colorado Rockies 4-3 in the fourth game for a sweep in the best-of-seven series, and in so doing they have won the World Series.
This win marks the Boston Red Sox's second World Series victory in four seasons after defeating St Louis back in 2004, and it was Boston Red Sox's seventh Series crown overall since it began in 1903.
Veteran player and third baseman Mike Lowell hit a solo home run and scored twice for Boston Red Sox, scoring a home run in the seventh innings to give Boston Red Sox a 3-0 lead.
The Colorado Rockies wouldn't accept defeat without a real battle and Garrett Atkins hit a two-run homer off Boston Red Sox relief pitcher Hideki Okajima in the eighth innings, which pulled his team back to a 4-3 score.
Jonathan Papelbon, Boston Red Sox's closing reliever, forced the final five outs and Boston Red Sox were the triumphant winners.
