Baseball player Steve Howe dies in car crash
Relief pitcher Steve Howe, who had played for the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees has died in a car crash in California it has been reported.
Steve Howe, 48, was killed when his pick-up truck turned over in an accident in Coachella on Thursday night.
Left-handed baseball player Steve Howe, who was a former National League rookie of the year, helped the Dodgers win the World Series in 1981, but he struggled with cocaine and alcohol addiction and was banned seven times during his time with the Dodgers.
Los Angeles released Steve Howe in 1985 but he returned in 1987 with the Texas Rangers before going on to pitch six seasons for the New York Yankees from 1991 to 1996.
Steve Howe was 47-41 with 91 saves in 12 Major League seasons and a 3.03 ERA with the Los Angeles Dodgers, University of Minnesota, Texas and the Yankees.
Steve Howe ranks ninth on the Los Angeles Dodgers' all-time saves list with 59.
