Seriously injured NFL player Kevin Everett walks again
American footballer Kevin Everett, who played as tight end for the Buffalo Bills, has been able to watch his team-mates in action again in less than four months after he sustained a life-threatening spinal cord injury.
Kevin Everett was paralysed from the neck down after he was hurt in a tackle in the season opener on September 9, 2007, but he is now walking on his own and he addressed his Buffalo Bills team-mates two hours before their game against the Giants.
Kevin Everett had suffered a fracture and dislocation of his cervical spine and his doctors at the time called it "life-threatening," as well as saying that it was likely to leave him with permanent neurological damage.
However, on September 11, just two days later, Kevin Everett showed significant movement in his arms and legs, which had led the doctors to speculate that he may eventually be able to walk again. And now Kevin Everett has done so.
A spokesman from the hospital where Kevin Everett was treated said: "What a great testament for our nurses and doctors seeing him."
