Pittsburgh Steelers will wear white against Seattle
Pittsburgh Steelers are not worried about their traditional black and
gold look and will be wearing their white 'away' uniform in Super Bowl
XL against Seattle.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are the designated 'home' team for the NFL
finale against Seattle Seahawks at Detroit's Ford Field on 5 February.
An incredible run of play-off road wins has taken them to the big game,
and has prompted coach Bill Cowher to decide to abandon their black and
gold look.
Bill Cowher explained his decision: "We're not playing at Heinz Field so, in my mind, it's an away game, anyway."
The Pittsburgh Steelers are the first team to knock off the number one,
two and three seeded play-off teams in a Conference to reach the Super
Bowl and they have won in successive weeks at Cincinnati, Indianapolis
and Denver.
The Pittsburgh Steelers' choice will put the Seahawks in their metallic-blue home jerseys.
Bill Cowher's decision has caused there to be a lot puzzled fans in
Pittsburgh, where it's difficult to drive past more than one or two
houses without seeing a black and gold team item or banner.
Lots of sports teams have switched to black in recent years because they think it creates a more intimidating image.
