Pittsburgh Steelers' "The Bus" celebrates victory and retirement
Veteran Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jerome Bettis aka "The Bus"
has finished his NFL career in a victorious way as the Steelers beat
Seattle 21-10 in Super Bowl XL in his home city of Detroit.
Jerome Bettis confirmed that he had played his last game and said his decision was "official like the referee's whistle".
"The Bus" said: "It's been an incredible ride. I came back (to Detroit) to win a championship - mission accomplished.
"My team-mates were tremendous. They put me on their back and wouldn't let me down. Now I have to bid farewell."
Jerome Bettis, who joined the Pittsburgh Steelers from the St Louis
Rams in 1996, added: "I'm the happiest person in the world. It's all
over - there aren't any games left."
Pittsburgh Steelers are now tied with San Francisco and Dallas on five
Super Bowl wins after taking four titles between 1975 and 1980.
And coach Bill Cowher, who has been the NFL's longest-serving active
coach with the same team, was happy to share the moment of glory for
Jerome Bettis and their triumphant team the Pittsburgh Steelers.
