Philadelphia Eagles defeat Dallas Cowboys on Christmas Day
The Philadelphia Eagles claimed an NFL play-off spot with a 23-7 win against the Dallas Cowboys on Christmas Day.
The Philadelphia Eagles went up to 9-6, gaining at least an NFC wildcard berth.
The Philadelphia Eagles would claim the NFC East title for the fifth time in six years with a victory over the Atlanta Falcons in their regular season finale.
Elsewhere, Mike Nugent's field goal gave the New York Jets a 13-10 triumph over the Miami Dolphins, keeping them optimistic for the post-season.
The New York Jets (9-6) can get an AFC wildcard spot if they defeat Oakland (2-13) in their last regular season game.
The Dallas Cowboys (9-6) had already secured a play-off berth, but to win the division they now have to defeat the Detroit Lions and hope the Philadelphia Eagles lose to the Falcons.
Although they had been written off as no-hopers following an injury end of season to quarterback Donovan McNabb, the Philadelphia Eagles have done much better than expected behind back-up Jeff Garcia, who led them to their fourth straight victory.
