New Orleans Saints to play San Diego Chargers at Wembley
The NFL has revealed that the New Orleans Saints American football team will be facing the San Diego Chargers at Wembley Stadium on 26 October.
This match will mark the second regular-season game to be hosted by London after Wembley was the venue for the New York Giants against the Miami Dolphins in October 2007.
Roger Goodell of the NFL is reported to have said: "We have great expectations for the game and for the event."
And Roger Goodell added: "Playing a limited number of regular-season games internationally will help build and grow an already passionate international fan base.We think this game will be great for the UK fans but also the people of New Orleans and Louisiana, and the people of San Diego and southern California."
The news of the forthcoming autumn event was given out in Phoenix, Arizona, before Sunday's Super Bowl XLII between the Giants and the New England Patriots.
Murrayfield in Edinburgh and Cardiff's Millennium Stadium had also been considered as potential venues but Wembley won out in the end.
